Phil Sedge

Phil Sedge started in the façade industry in August 1988 working for a façade installation company working for the main façade companies in London, from the age of 17 Phil was running projects or taking a lead role. Phil learnt from his peers the hard way, from reading drawings to installing EPDM to fixing curtain walling, Phil progressed into management roles and quickly realised management was where he wanted to progress to. In 1995 Phil joined Schmidlin where he progressed his career into management positions. Phil left after 8 years to join a colleague running an installation company which he did for 3 years before joining Laing O Rourke in 2005. 

Phil had an incessant hunger to learnt the technical part of facades so attended every CWCT course available as well as progressing his management skills, Phil was instrumental in the development of Laing O Rourke’s self-delivery facades team which he managed. Phil worked on prestigious projects like one Hyde Park and the Cheese Grater before joining Mace in September 2013 to set up a Façade Team. Phil stared with a four strong façade team which as now developed into a 42 strong team. Phil now heads up facades for the Group controlling the strategy for the business. During this process Phil has been recording data around productivity and defects which he will talk about today.
